I have my elderly neighbours coming for a cup of tea tomorrow. He is diabetic so I have no idea what to serve. They are coming early so can't do sandwiches etc but clearly no cake. Help please.

well it will depend on how strict he has to be about carbohydrates , whether he takes insulin, tablets or just diet controlled. For some people even one biscuit might be one to many ..... for others its not a big deal .

Maybe just a wee phone call to generally ask re likes / dislikes ....

When you say "tea".. is it literally a cuppa with snack or is it the 5pm ish meal some people call tea

I would'nt necessarily assume no cake if you don't know how the diabetes is controlled, but a call to them to find out about about food would be ok
