Hi, I'm going to get a steamer and slow cooker to be ultra healthy. Dumb question coming up!! - how does the slow cooker work, do you leave it on the hob all day, or it is electric and plugs in????

It is electric & plugs in. I have the Tefal one & think it's the cat's whiskers.

thankyou so much, I was worrying I'd need to leave the hob on all day!! I'll look up the Tefal model.

Oh good a slow cooker thread!

I'm also thinking abut getting one.

Sorry Mrsjingles that doesn't help you much, but I have had one in the past, you just plug it in.

I've got a £10 one from Argos and it's great! (it was half price at Christmas)

Fantastic - love mine. Very simple to use and we use ours at least weekly.

It's this one but it was half price at Christmas!

Even so it's a bargain!

My Tefal one is both slow cooker & rice cooker. Haven't tried making rice with it yet but it is definitely a worthwhile kitchen "gadget". You can make the most wonderful soups & stews, very tasty & low in fat (if you want). Somehow the slow-cooking intensifies the flavour.
