Does anyone have a chicken tikka masala recipe?

Tried to make one following a friends recipe recently but it tasted and looked disgusting! If anyone can help I'd be most grateful.

Mine comes in a jar at Tesco.

1 1/2 lb chick breasts
6tbsp tikka paste
1/2 cup yoghurt
1 tsp oil
onion
garlic clove
1 green chilli
1/2 tsp ginger
1tbsp tomato puree


cube the meat, marinate in half the paste and half the yoghurt for 20 mins.

for the suace -
heat the oil, fry onion, garlic, ginger and chilli for 5 mins. Add rest of paste fry for 2 mins. add puree and cup of water boil, and simmer for 20 mins.

thread the chick onto skewers and grill, brush with ghee or melted butter and grill.

blend the sauce, return to the pan, add the rest of the yoghurt and tbsp lemon juice.


to make tikka paste -

tbsp coriander seeds
tbsp cumin seeds
3/4 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tbsp paprika
1/2 tbsp garamasala
1/2 tbsp ground ginger
1 tbsp chilli powder
1/4 tbsp turmuric
1/2 tbsp dried mint
pinch salt
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
75 mls wine vinegar
75mls oil

Thanks Kelly. I'll be trying it out tomorrow night. Usually I'd use a jar but I was set a challenge to do it from scratch. Evil SIL then said I wouldn't be able to do it so I have a big point to prove!

dice chicken brown it add Asda good for you chicken tikka masala sauce bung in oven!!!

There is a recipe for this in Jamie's Dinners which I made and it was nice.

lol, good luck. I've done it a few times, and it is nice. You can make extra paste and it will keep a while in the fridge.

I'm doing the recipe for big family meal tonight Kelly! I shall let you know how it goes in the morning! I realised when shopping for the ingredients that my friends recipe had coconut milk in it. I think that may have been why my first attempt wasn't too good as I could really taste it and I'm not a big fan of coconut!
