Biltong

Please can someone help me? Used to get some really good biltong from a chap at the pub (not just some random, I knew him!) but since I have moved away I have lost any way of getting it - none of the shops round here sell it. Does anyone know of an online seller that do nice and trustworthy biltong?
Not sure whether to trust the google throwups!

Where are you? Our local butcher does it, and there are also a number of shops in London that 'do' specialist South African things, can't remember the name but there's one by Charring Cross and one at Victoria. They may do on-line deliveries?

I love biltong so feel your pain!

Martin's Jerked Meat - I found him at a 'Mediaeval Fayre' thingy.

Hmm, seems to be only jerky at the moment, but he definitely had biltong at one point.

I'm in West Berkshire. Our local butchers are lacking in Biltong...maybe I should have a word. The farm shop do some but its in a packet and is sliced too thinly for my liking! I like to get a lump of it and cut it myself! Laverstoke park do an organic one but its bleddy expensive!

Our local supermarket stocks it but it's a northern chain. I love the stuff as it brings back memories of my time in South Africa. Sorry not much help am I.

If you have a butcher's shop, ask them for advice.
Sainsbury's sometimes does packs of biltong - can't remember what they're called though and they seem pricey for the amount you get.

Found a couple of weblinks:

Waitrose do it. Sorry never had it so don't know how authentic it is!

I live close to one called St Marcus, and I must say, its even better than the actual ones we have back in SA! When I was pregnant, they even advised me to get a 'medium' tough one that they sliced up on site with their machine.

While I was 9 months pregnant with with DL, and ready to pop, they told me they delivery all over the UK too!! (I'm based in South West London). Definitely must at least try them. All the best.

There's a Biltong Shop in Moss End Garden Centre (between Bracknell and Maidenhead) where they make their own Biltong in various styles. Boerwors as well, IIRC.

Online, I've tried Laverstoke Park Farm (via Ocado or Waitrose). Love the taste, dislike the texture. Also tried Raging Bull Meats, which IMO is somewhere between the two others in flavour and texture. Can't remember where I got it from.
