Someone once told me that it's illegal for baby food products to contain added salt and sugar. Is this true? If so, why is one of the top ingredients in baby fromage frais sugar?

I dont think you can add salt to baby foods - dont think it applies to sugar though.

from food standards agency:

Baby foods aren’t allowed to contain added salt. But any foods you buy that aren’t aimed at babies, especially sauces and ready-made porridge, can often be high in salt, so also limit how much of these you let your baby eat and remember to check the label

think sugar is reccomended, not law

I think artificial sweeteners are banned in foods targeted at under 3s.
