What is your favourite, favourite thing to eat?

(140 Posts)
I seem to go through phases with food and I obsessively eat something until I get fed-up and move on to the next one. At the moment I am obsessed with truffle oil. Yes truffle oil. It's wonderful and ocassionally I open the bottle and just sniff it. I also find myself cooking certain meals specifically so I can add my delicious extra blush grin

Am I alone? Do other people do this too? If so what is your favourite, favourite thing to eat?

Oh and I'm not pregnant grin

Homemade cherry scones mmmmmmmmmmmmm
It used to be caramelized onions for me. I did this amazing batch of italian onions with lemon rind and wine and well, I got a bit carried away and ate 80% of it. (Whole bag of baby onions, 1kg or something..) anyway.. I paid the consequences, so badly. I reeked of onions for WEEKS afterwards. Especially, er, my, lady parts!!!!!!! TMI I know but let this serve as a warning to you

Right now its huge salads with feta and roast pumpkin and walnuts with balsamic, and honeyed nuts....... mmm.

I have a severe sweet tooth but my savouries are spag bol, french onion soup I had in paris and always eat avocado, tomato, spring onion and jarlsberg on toast for lunch every day. Most favourite thing is pad thai made properly. Heaven.

Mars bar crispies - mars bars, ounce of butter per mars bar melted til glossy sauce, add kellogs krispies... press down into tin, cool, cut into small squares then keep them in fridge. Yum.

Krispy Kreme glazed ring donuts, home made sticky toffee pudding and banoffee pie.
I can't have one favourite. There's too much stuff I love. A selection:

A huge green salad with cherry tomatoes, sliced pears, blue cheese, crispy bacon and toasted pine nuts with a home made vinaigrette.

Home made chips.

Fillet steak with a mushroom and brandy cream sauce.

Foie gras with toasted brioche and spiced apples and a glass of Montbazillac.

Chicken stuffed with any kind of cheese wrapped in pancetta and baked in wine or apple juice with which you make a cream sauce afterwards.

Home made broccoli and stilton soup with loads of croutons.

Panna Cotta.

Toast, loads of butter and Marmite.

Mmmmmmmmm.
Rollmops you're my food friend. I love raw food. I could eat unknown quantities of oysters, steak tartare and sashimi. Foie Gras is a favourite too, - with a glass of Sauternes, oh yum.

Pregnancy has been a time of sensory deprivation for me.

My first post-pregnancy meal is going to be Japanese I think. DH has promised me a return trip to the restaurant we went to in Paris this year for my birthday which was the most heavenly experience of my life.
