When it says 'bake in an oven proof dish....'

do you put the lid on?
It's just chopped carrots and parsnips, I want to mash them so they have to stay softish, lid or no lid?

lid or else they will go a bit dry and crispt and burnt on top.

I'd go with a lid if you plan to mash them. I'd usually roast them without a lid, but they do get a bit crispy in places.

Thanks ladies. I put the lid on, but clearly didn't leave them in long enough, were a bit hard but will be better next time.
