Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

One of our staples is to chop and fry some Chorizo (not a huge amount though) then add garlic, courgettes, mushrooms, onions and peppers, fry until soft, then add a tin of chopped tomatoes - reduce down. Mix in some cannelini beans or cooked macaroni. Top with some oven baked cod or haddock. Yum.

I add chopped chilli sometimes too for a bit of kick.

You could ask your local library for this, we got one second hand and I quite like it, but we haven't really used a lot of recipes yet.

If you have any nice recipes that would be good smile
Basically -

lots of fruit, veg, legumes, unrefined cereals, olive oil

medium amounts of dairy products, fish

low amounts of meat and meat products

moderate amounts of wine

Or did you want more specific recipes?

Hi,

Not sure if any of you watched Tonight but it seems the best way to lose weight and be healthy is to follow a Mediterranean diet.

Any ideas on what to eat please? smile

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
