Is there anything else I can use?

A cloth wrapped round the baisin & tied with string is pretty traditional

Greaseproof paper or baking parchment would be OK.

Given that all the master-chef people seem to poach chicken wrapped in cling film I reckon that might work if you were desparate.

Depends on the grade of cling film you are using. If steaming, you will be running at 100deg.C and some cling film will struggle at this temperatures.

Use a cloth. Its what they used before foil was invented!
