Carrot and coriander soup: what instead of coriander?

I love the idea of carrot and coriander soup, but I really don't like coriander! I like most other herbs, what else would work, and should I use fresh or dried?

I just use lots of black pepper instead but how about thyme it even lemon thyme?

Parsley isn't a bad alternative, especially the fresh flat-leaf sort.

Orange. Add fresh squeezed juice of a couple of oranges.

Carrot and lemon soup (squeeze of juice) was a Weight Watchers staple of years ago and I always liked it (bonus grin )

Have seen cumin used too - that would be nice this time of year, quite autumnal.

Carrot, orange and mint is surprisingly yummy and carrot and tarragon is nice if you like the aniseed flavour of tarragon.

Carrot and pumpkin seed is my soup invention of the week. Just chuck a handful in a pan with some oil and onion and carrot then fry it around a bit and stick a pint of stock in. Cook for ten minutes then blend. It's really delicious and the pumpkin seeds give it a slightly nutty flavour. Yum.

In this month's Good Food magazine there's a recipe for carrot, orange and ginger soup which looks lovely, and dead easy.

I also love it with cumin and lentils as well. Then a squeeze of lemon just before serving. This was told to me by a middle eastern person.

I really don't like fresh coriander, but still make carrot and coriander soup, and for some reason it's fine - so you should try it anyway!

I'm with ouroboros, I don't like fresh coriander, but I use ground corriander in Carrot soup and it is lovely.

Honeyed Carrot soup, made a big batch of it while we were gardening today to keep us warm. There's a recipe on the BBC Good Food site, can't link as I'm on my phone.

Cumin is very good. I had tarragon and carrot once also but needs lots of black pepper and a bit of cream too.

Use any other green herb such as parsley or basil.

Ginger is delicious. I wonder about sage, as it works so well with pumpkins which are also sweet.

I would use fresh feverfew but use a tiny bit as it is very strong, gives a mild minty taste and imo works very well with carrots and tomatoes.

I made some tonight, carrot and flat leaf parsley. Delicious!

Will try a dried herb next time, want to use store cupboard flavours if poss.

I made the soup with two onions and three large carrots. Couldn't find the blender attachment thingy so just used potato masher and elbow grease. I do love my soup to be chunky rather than silky smooth.
