Fishnet

Thinking of buying a fish.

I've been thinking about buying my DS1 a fish for a while and today I went to the fair and say all these poor fish being won, and sent away in teeny bowls and I was so full of rage, I decided I would buy him one, and I'd do it properly, so at least one little fish somewhere is getting a good home.
I know that I need to avoid pets at home, and it'll need a large tank and that I'll need to tank a while before we get the fish.

I just want a single fish really, that is easy for a beginner to look after, so if you have any suggestions about what would be good, I would be so grateful, thank you. Smile

Fish don't really like being on their own, but in a big tank you can have a nice shoal of tetras or other fish

Just to clarify, I didn't get a fair fish, and never would.

What size tank would indeed for tetras? They are tropical fish aren't they? Not that that is an issue really. It would be in his room, but he has a night light at the moment, so any fish light would just replace that.

If you just want one fish, how about a male betta (siamese fighting fish)? Have a google and see what you think of them, they are stunners with personality. And they have to be kept on their own as they are, well as the name says, fighters and it'd be a blood bath if you put two or of them together. Plus, they don't need huge tanks, so it's something manageable to look after.
