Pond Cracked!

Hi,
Hoping for a little advice again! My mini-pond seems to have sprung a leak as it has almost drained itself.. so I refilled it and it drained again. So, my lovely goldies are sitting in a bucket with pond water and airstone atm.

I've hacked over to Staples and got what I hope is a food grade plastic 68litre box and the plan is to fill it with declorinated water then put the goldies and the airstone in for the time being.

I can examine the pond properly at the weekend and maybe fix whatever the problem is with sealant..

If I can't fix it.. 68litres is way too small for long term I believe (they are currently around 10cm long)

Not whether to have to 68l box inside either as they have been living in my garden..

Any helpful suggestions gratefully received!!

This is my original question

They will be OK in the plastic box for the time being but they'll need a filter and you'll need to keep a close eye on the water quality because it will be a bit crowded for them. You will need to keep it inside because they won't have the depth to hide from predators or shelter from the weather. I'd be tempted to keep them inside until the spring.

When you say mini-pond, how big is it exactly? Fish ponds should have a deep part of at least a metre for the reasons I mentioned.

Hi again EauRouge :)
I've got them into the box now so I suspect they are happier out of the bucket. They seem to be ok, but I'll be keeping an eye on them!
This weekend I will be able to investigate what has happened to the container outside.
I call it a mini pond but it is tiny (it's a temporary measure for a year or so..) I rescued the goldies from being flushed so my provision was a little rushed.. I had insulated, roofed and was going to heat it over the winter as it is sooo shallow.
Hopefully in a year I can have a lovely proper pond for them.

Wow, that sounds like a goldie palace Grin I'm sure they'll be fine if you take steps to keep them warm and give them hiding places from cats etc.

Thanks! Hopefully I can fix it so they can go back out..

I should get a chance to check in daylight tomorrow and actually see what is going on...
