Was a little surprised that no-one's started a thread on this.

I'd already read the book, although a while ago. It was lovely and heartwarming, although it didn't shy away from showing the effects of drug use and coming off methadone.

Made me think about how people were willing to help a homeless person with a cat but not a homeless person on their own. I know it's because it made him seem less threatening, more "human" but it made me think about second chances etc

Has anyone seen it and what did you think?

I loved the film so did ds and now he is very concerned about the homeless. We both found it very upsetting at times but educational for ds

I thought the same and I have been guilty many times for pretending I haven't seen someone I won't again and have on other occasions given money and thought what are they going on to spend be it on

As for his cafe I am sure at some point something will be opened (there is already a cat cafe) James is sorting his life out running a business is very stressful and takes commitment he might not be in a position emotionally to do at the moment. It was a nasty report from the DM but hardly surprising

It is a lovely film, a real tear jerker. The books were great too.
I don't think the daily fail should be casting shade on James and the cat cafe project. What the hell do they know, crap paper! Anyone who donated has been told that if the project did not take off, then the money would to to other charities.
Totally recommend the film.

I must say that I'm more inclined to give money to homeless people with their dogs, if only because I hope they will buy food for their dog and therefore more likely to buy food for themselves at the same time.

I have conflicting views on giving to people on the streets anyway, because there is so often a drugs or drink issue, but it's impossible to know just from looking at someone as you walk past them, isn't it? The film highlighted how hard it was to get off - and stay off - the streets, after all he was one of the very lucky ones, to get a flat and to have the incredible determination to get off drugs.

Loved this film! Did cry especially at the end think was just the happiness after everything that happened and the cat came back :-D.

Not surprised at that, perhaps he has worked out that he is nearly 20x more likely to end up on the street than any sister he may have. :-(

I liked the real Bob the cat in the film rather than them using stunt cats.
