Watched Under the Skin with Scarlett Johansson last night with Dh. We knew kind of what was going on, but it was a bit Hmm.
Any other films that baffle?

Looking at this list, I'd pick out Memento and Primer as films that left my head spinning (second viewing helps!)

I watched Under the Skin last week, knowing it had had very good reviews. Clearly, it was intended to be mysterious with some of the scenes genuinely alien. I thought it was very effective as the unconventional nature of the story and the bizarre twists helped to create that unsettling feeling of suspense. Also, it was interesting how it inverted the stereotype of a lone man picking up women - if it had been that way round, we would have expected the women to come to a nasty end; it was much more shocking for a woman to coldly bump off men - then that was subverted when she was the vulnerable one at the end. Sorry, getting carried away - sign of a good film!

Be kind rewind- we only got halfway through and gave up. Never has a film been so misrepresented by its trailer.

Hobnails on Whitehall I think it was called - ewan mcgregor and others as barbie dolls acting out World War Two dramas. Three of us in the cinema when it came out. We all looked at each other and went WTF when the lights came up.

Ah echt you beat me to it!

When I was a young one I went through my David Lynch phase (probably because of the popularity of Twin Peaks).

Eraserhead is one of the weirdest films ever made but I also remember it being very sad Sad

I HATED Under The Skin.
Holy Motors is another that left me utterly cold and WTF.

Conversely I loved The Place Beyond The Pines.

Solaris, didn't get it and didn't really care much by the end.

The bonkers one with Bjork in it. It is the only time I have come close to walking out of the cinema.

Interstellar was unfathomable and I like science fiction a lot.

Mind you 2001 Space Odyssey I still think has the strangest ending glued on from another film but its ace all the same.

Oh and Harrison Ford is definitely a replicant in Bladerunner because he finds the origami unicorn.
