DD saw it in the cinema and loved it so got it for her for her birthday (Friday) we all watched it together last night and wow.
I was expecting the graphics to be amazing. But a friend of mine had said it was sort of like Avatar in that the graphics are amazing but story is crap. I thought the whole thing was brilliantly done!!

spoiler alert !

Who else wonders whether or not the ending should be taken at face value? It was all so lucky.. The way she swam out the pod, the fact she was so near to a beach... I mean the fact that she survived the landing at all!! Thought it was left quite open to interpretation a bit like The Life of Pi

I loved it too, I thought it was very original in that it was the first movie I've ever seen about the actual, terrifying experience of being in space if something goes wrong.
And of course the cinematography is amazing.
I have to say that I took the ending at face value. I thought they needed that scene to contrast earth with the nothingness of space.

Sorry, meant to add that of course there are other movies about things going wrong in space but usually from the comfort of a comfy spaceship.
