Star Wars Question

My ds(8) wants to watch the full set of Star Wars movies. Dh says he should watch them in chronological order ie. the newly made prequels before the originals. Friend says opposite - that they will make more sense if watched in the order they were filmed...... please can you advise which would be best order for an 8yr old. I have only ever seen the original so am clueless!

If he's 8 then I would start at from 1 to 6 (Phantom Menace?) as it may not make sense to start from half way through.

DS watched them in the order they were made but didn't have the clicking into place we all had when we saw the new ones he just kept asking why things he had seen hadn't already happened.
I think it would have made more sense to him to see them in chronological order but for an adult or brighter child than mine seeing the new ones first means the original films lose something, you know to much about it.

They would make more sense watched in chronological order for someone new to StarWars.

HOWEVER, Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith is a 12A film and I think the section where you see a main character on fire, flailing on the ground with his legs cut off is a bit gory and potentially nightmare fuel.

For that reason I'd suggest letting your DS watch the original three films and save the other three until he's a bit older. However, you'll know best whether he's likely to be traumatised or not!

I would just deny that the three new ones had been made at all. If there is no Harrison Ford, leave it out!

Otherwise agree with others, watch them in order made. And be prepared to sob at the end of return of the Jedi

I think the order they were made. I just don't think they would work 1-6.
