Hi, grown out of the dvd collection we've had for a few years. Can anyone recommend a few good films (ideally not rated '12')?
Thank you :)

Thank you! Have ordered Labyrinth, Neverending Story and Grease! Should add, my dd is nearly 10. Any other suggestions from other parents?

I loved the old St. Trinians films at that age, plus the ealing comedies, Ladykillers, Two way Stretch, Kind Hearts and Coronets. Two movies I remember most from my childhood are Sound of Music and Gone With the Wind.

What about Freaky Friday, Candleshoe, the hayley mills one where she plays twins - parent trap maybe?

We (3 dds, ages 5-12) like the Studio Ghibli films - Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbour Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Arietty. Princess Bride is pretty good. National Velvet. Pixar films - Incredibles. Quite liked Brendan and the Secret of the Kells. Also a Dutch film called Lepel (might be subtitled). Don't forget Singing in the Rain!
Can't really remember, but Grease might have a few more 'adult' scenes, might be worth a little preview.

Little Women? The 1994 one was a fave of mine when I was 10ish.

DVDs of the Goodies TV series are a huge hit here.

Matilda, the incredibles, disposable me, my 12y was surprisingly taken with the Coonies which I thought she'd think was babyish.
Bolt, monsters v aliens. Both ghostbusters are hits here.

While I was typing DD1(15) has just sent an email asking me to buy the second series of Sherlock Holms, I wouldn't mind, but she made off with the first series before I got a chance to watch it.

The demands for DVDs clearly never end.

Also Percy Jackson, Golden Compass neither are anything like as good as the books, but GC is a watchable stand alone adventure.

My children, 8 and 9, love Ramona and Beezus (has Josh Duhamel in it so good for mummies too) and Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer.

My DD is 10, we don't have any younger ones. She is fairly used to and immune to reasonable swearing. She lives Bebd It Like Beckham, About A Boy, Miss Potter, Tea Wuth Mussolini, Indiana jones films, a Good Year (Russell Crowe/Ridley Scott), Cool Runnungs, The Dish and lots more I can't think of
