I couldn't have been more excited and I really enjoyed it I must say I though BC over-egged it massively, which is I assume was what the director wanted because that's not like him. There were a few key lines (you know what I mean ) that would have been better delivered in a subtler, more menacing way imo that is much more Cumberbatch's style

Also, there was far too much rubbish Pegg!Scotty and not enough Bones, Sulu and Chekhov.

However, I loved that Kirk and Spock were gayer for each other than ever and that Uhura got some kickass scenes Also, the black ship was freakin' awesome!

Saw it this evening - BRILLIANT. So many good references to the other films, some laughs - in-jokes.

I wasn't too keen on the Cumberbatch character. My reasons would be a spoiler so I shall keep them to myself.

I think They must have had it in for Pegg - making him do crappy stuff.

The torch has been truly passed to Bones as he now appears to wear the hallowed corset.

Yes, I too would not like see Sulu when he was pissed off either

It was the quietest I have seen for a long time in a cinema - not because there were not many people, more so that everyone was sat on the edge of their seats

Yes yes to the Kirk/Spock relationship and the big black ship

Loved it too! I enjoyed the funny stuff and thought that the trailers they released were very cleverly edited to throw us all off.

Saw it at the IMAX last night. Loved most of it. Cumberbatch and Weller were wonderfully over the top and I still love Karl Urban as Bones. He's nailed it perfectly.

The Kirk/Spock bromance was fabulous, the black ship was awesome and I adored all the references to the original.

Scotty and his midget alien side kick were utterly dreadful. What the hell were they thinking when they wrote the character that badly? Wasn't too happy with Chekov being nothing but comic relief either. They made Sulu
bad ass... Chekov should have his moment.

I also hated the Admiral's blond bimbette daughter. What a totally pointless character.

All on all, lots of fun.

The two most pointless scenes for me were Alice Eve getting her kit off and Kirk's threesome. Neither had any relevance to the story.

Isn't Carol Marcus an original series character - mother of Kirk's son?

I loved it too but hated Pegg's bad scots accent, which I can only assume is a reference to James Doohan as it was so terrible. I love Bones, he is like Alex James in space.

Loved every second of it - yes Carol Marcus is an Important Future Character. I rather liked Kirk cavorting in bed with the kitten bimbettes. Would like to see the Bones-Zulu-Scotty-Checkov characters develop a bit in the way Spock-Kirk-Uhuru have. Also struggled slightly with The Glorious Cumberbatch as a kickass action man to start with but totally convinced by the final meltdown.

Simon Pegg said in an interview that his accent only seemed to be criticised by English people! His wife and her family are Scottish and he said they are happy with the accent so that's good enough for him!

Just saw it tonight. I loved it! So many Trek references - Section 31! Carol Marcus! I agree with the poor characterisation of Scotty. It's just all wrong.

I was on the edge of my seat all the way! Loved it! Spent most of the time looking like this with hands clasped dramatically at sides of face!

Loved the way it's filmed!
Love how its thrill packed and yet still plenty of time for character stuff!

Very exciting... want to see it again!

Saw it today and loved it! I was never a big fan of the character of Bones in the original series but this actor has definitely caught him to perfection and has made him seem more likeable somehow (to me anyway). Didn't like Scotty's pointless alien friend but all the rest great and some brilliant lines from Spock.

At the risk of SPOILERS,

Where did they get that tribble? or hat/cat out of the Specsavers ad.
They didn't even discover them until they had started their '5 year mission'.

Pixel, Kirk referred to the 'Mudd Incident' as that was where they got the ship they used to get to Chronos, and Mudd was the guy who introduced the tribbles in TOS, so it implies they've had some missions already before they set off on the five-year mission.
