Hi,
That's it really.
Mine is a tie between Annie, Les Mis and Phantom.

The best show I ever saw was Barnum staring Michael Crawford, although Blood Brothers is a favourite of mine also.

Live, Sweeney Todd.

Film versions, it's a toss-up between West Side Story and Cabaret.

I'm planning to go to Sweeney Todd in June or July. I'm a Sondheim fan (loved Roadshow at the Menier Chocolate Factory) but for a film I'd choose Guys and Dolls.

Would love to see sweeney Todd (seen it twice in amateur, but excellent performances) Really love Sondheim, such swooping complicated inter-laced choral lines.

I'm a sucker for older hollywood film versions, so would have to say 'singing in the rain'.

A very soft spot for 'wicked' (mum! why are you *crying?! oh FFs it's ONLY A MUSICAL!)

I loathe Andrew Lloyd webber.

Live - Les Miserables

On film - West Side Story or Cabaret

I can't recommend Sweeney Todd highly enough, and that's from someone who's always been a Michael Ball sceptic. He is ace. But Imelda Staunton is even better.

Shakey1500 · 25/04/2012 13:11

I'm not a fan of Michael Ball historically but have read some fantastic reviews for him and even better ones for Imelda Staunton. Would LOVE to go and see it.

Friends of mine are going, he's a Sondheim nut like myself but she hates him. Calls hs musicals "pretentious word fangles that make no sense" Shock I'd gladly take her ticket only it's his birthday present Envy

Shakey, that's infuriating! I do feel for you. When's your birthday? Get someone to take you!

Definitely Sondheim's Into The Woods. My DVD of the broadway production is worn out, really hope someone is planning to revive it for the west End someday soon.

LadyClarice I know! Mine's in October but we're already booked to see les Mis for the 6th time for me Going with my sister and BIL as he's never seen it. Not insufferable as I love it Grin

dumbelina Love Into The Woods. Have loved it since I was young enough to play Little Red Riding Hood. Now I'll just about pass for The Bakers Wife :)

I think there was an open air production recently?

dumbelina · 26/04/2012 10:30

Yes there was - the tickets sold out in hours! Didn't manage to get tickets anyway :(

Yes, at Regents Park. It wasn't on my radar then, which I'm really annoyed about now because someone took me to see Crazy For You last year and it was FAB. Would have loved to see the open-air Into the Woods.

Cabaret, closely followed by Chicago, to watch.
To be in: Oliver
I hate all Andrew Lloyd Webber's stuff and would also have to be bound and gagged before I'd sit through Wicked!

Shakey1500 · 26/04/2012 19:33

I saw Wicked and was that enthralled I fell asleep in the second half....dreary as dishwater.

I managed to see Sunday In The Park With George (is there a finer song than "Sunday"? sigh...) when Cameron MacIntosh was there, I was like a teenager Grin

Incidentally has anyone seen Adrian Lester's portrayal of Tony in Company? I've seen a YouTube clip. What did everyone think?

Super-late replying but yes, Into the Woods at the Regents Park Open Air Theatre was just magical. Now, I MUST book for Sweeney Todd...

Phantom, Loce Never Dies (London version, not the Aussie version on DVD) and Les Mis. I adore Phantom so much it was the theme of my wedding and my something blue was a piece of Christine's Il Muto costume. I luuiirve Ramin Karimloo, John Owen Jones and Earl Carpenter and met them before the wedding (leading DH to hope DS wasn't born wearing a mask) and Michael Crawford sent an autographed picture.

Love Les Mis (seen it twice) but my favourite has to be Billy Elliot.

I love Wicked, Priscilla and The Lion King. I've seen plenty and enjoyed them all. I'm going to see the Wizard of Oz today for the second time in as many weeks, so yeah, I love that one too Grin
