Hi,
Ive been on 10mgs of cipralex for a few years and decided slong with my gp to remain on them during pregnancy as this was a high risk area emotionally .
After reading the drug leaflet at about 20 weeks i became aware thst taking this in the last 3 months of pregnancy poses a significant risk to the noenate in terms of withdrawal and low blood sugars ect, so i c my gp again and said id like to be off them by 28 weeks.

Working flat out made this kinda hard because i was very receptive to this drug and if ever i missed a dose i used to have to come home and take it because i would feel so weirded out.
So i VERY slowly reduced to 10 mgs every other day-very dizzy and sureal in the evening and morning id missed one.
Managed to continue to 5mgs then 5 every other day. Tnen read not to yo yo which is what i felt like i was doing so took 2.5 ( half a bitten in half 5mg tab ! ) every day-did this over about 8 weeks.
Im now 34 weeks and wanted to be off at 28 so stopped altogeteher about 4 or 5 days ago.

I feel like crap .

Mood wise i can cope with.
On the up my sex life has taken a whoop for the better :-0.Fantastic !

But i can hardly think straight when i wake up - i feel sort of drunk and have to concentrate hard to make myself do things ? I`m 100 % happy with my mood- but these physical synptoms are horrid. It comes and goes almost all day-kind of feel like i need splashing with ice cold water every 5 mins .
Can someone please tell me how long this will go on for and how will it be making my baby feel ?

Cheers x

Escitalopram (Cipralex) has long half life, which means it takes a while to get out of your system. Most people will find the effects will be gone by 7-14 days after the last dose, but for a few it will last a little longer.

If it is taking too long go back to your doctor. Good luck.
