Has anyone on here being diagnosed with adult ADHD? Can you tell me about your experience, how you were diagnosed and how you are treated? I suspect I have it but I'm just looking for some support and information.

I have it, but not particularly badly anymore - seem to have grown out of it to some extent as I reached my 30s, although maybe I am also better at managing it.

I was diagnosed at about 19 by a private psychiatrist - was more or less unrecognised on the NHS 15 years ago.

I was treated with dexedrine - a ritalin type drug, which I took for about 8 years before finding I didn't really need it anymore. It defiitely made a big difference for me at the time though - don'[t think I would have got through uni without it.

Ummm, not sure what else to say really. Any questions fire away

Thankyou for replying, I didn't really think I would get any response.

I would like to know what were your symptoms through childhood and up until you were diagnosed and how Ritalin affected you and helped you. Did you see significant improvements? Did you have any side-effects? How much did going privately cost you? (if I can ask that).

Much appreciated, thankyou.

Hi TheBreastMilksOnMe, I've just found your thread and am in exactly the same position as you were in March. I think I have ADD, but don't know where to start and would like to know if you went to your GP and if they took you seriously? Having my son has really made me realise how 'scattered' I am, and have always been. Just thought I was a bit daft and a bit lazy, lol.

Hope its not bad etiquette to reply to a thread 7 months after it was started Confused
