Been on Citalopram for a year. It seems to have stopped working this last month. Is this common..?

My initial experiences with Citalopram seemed similar to other peoples ie bad initial side effects but then after a while felt so much better.

But over time I noticed it didnt seem to be helping with my PMT much anymore ie I was having a downer each month despite the ADs. This months PMT has been really bad, and to be honest hasn't resolved now I have come on and I just feel depressed again. I have felt rubbish for a month. Has anyone else had to up the AD's after a year?

I've been on Citalopram for 2 years now. My dose was increased twice, and the second time was after about 10 months, and it did help.

Hi, I am also on citalopram, and mine has been increased twice. They will always start you on the lowest dose that might work, with a view to increasing it if necessary, which makes sense. If PMT type symptoms don't stop once you have come on they probably aren't PMT. I would see your GP if I were you.

So it is common to need an extra boost after a while?? i have got myself n a bit of a state which im sure isnt helping, that im not going to feel "normal" again the last few months have been great, i dont want to go back to how i was though. im calling the doctors as soon as they are open today.
