can you ask to take it in the evening instead? Is there a particular reason why you have to take it in the morning?

I've heard of it but don't know much about it TBH, sorry.

I desperately wanted this as an alternative to olanzapine or quetiapine but was not allowed as apparently it is too 'activating'

most meds in that group (atypical antipsychotics) are quite sedating, but abilify is not supposed to be - it might just be an early side effect that wears off as you get used to it?

thanks for the replies

mitchy - do you mind me asking why you wanted it and what had you heard about it. And what does 'too activating' mean................sorry if i'm a bit dim

because the other ones I've mostly been on (chlorpromazine then olanzapine then quetiapine) all make you fat and sleepy, and aripiprazole is supposed to not do that

unfortunately it seems fat and sleepy is what my dr aimed for, to stop my mood going too high I suppose, 'too activating' probably meant 'not sedating enough'

are you settling in to it a bit now or is it still making you tired?

they are still making me dosey - perhaps i just have to get used to it. i've no idea why he said to take first thing in the morning

i gather the others would make me more sleepy and even fatter than i already am?

how long have you been taken yours?
