a friend of mine is in a bad way and I would really love to help her but I am struggling with a family illness and don't really have much spare time. Also I wouldn't know where to start!

She has been agoraphobic on and off for many years and has recently split from her long-term partner and is now faced with all things official and is not coping well with even simplest tasks. I fear for her I really do and would so love to be able to point her in the right direction.

I have already suggested the sane helpline (which she has not been able to get through to) but I think first and foremost she prob needs help with this particular problem.

Many thanks

hello - just checked into to start a thread and noticed you hadnt had a reply.

I'm vaguely familiar with this as have had similar issues (not ag). I would strongly advise getting her down the docs..you could accompany her or, if that bad try and arrange a home visit. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one way to deal with this, which is now available on the NHS.

Otherwise try searching your region for any anxiety related groups or charities that provide support.

There is one in London that has trained therapists which will do home visits, perhaps you could find something similar out there.

Good luck
