Why do I lose friends/not make any?

I try to be a nice person. Yes, I can bitch but so can everyone.

I seem to be rapidly losing friends and I don't know what I have done to do it

All my life I have found it very difficult to make friends. School has been hell, I made friends with preschool mums, but then when we started actual school their children were in a different class, and the mums in my class had already paired up.

I try but I clam up and I don't know if people don't talk to me because I am just radiating horribleness or if they think I think I am better than them (when it is nerves).

How do some people have loads of friends, and yet I struggle to keep a handful?

I think I moan too much. Again, I don't mean to, I am just useless at conversation.

I'll come on here and give you a hug (((((hugs))))))). i've moved to a small village in England from Cardiff and at first it was VERY difficult to fit in as i was clearly different to them.
But i found the easiest way to make friends was to become a volunteer and help around the community, either with the Elderly or children's groups.
You gradually become known in the community and because you are "forced" to meet so many different people it encourages you to open up your shell.
I used to find it difficult to make friends at school as i had moved house at least 6 times before i was 11yrs old so by then i just gave up trying to be friends as i was scared of losing them all over again
But the older i've got the easier it seems to be.
Just contact your local voluntary action group and you'll have loads of friends!
Just believe in yourself and like yourself then people will feel the warmth radiating from you and then you might not have to moan so much

hello. as someone who finds sociability and friendship difficult myself you have my sympathy but you ask why you are losing friends... you give us the answer yourself: lay off the bitching! and perhaps you have some apologies to make?

the belief in myself is probably a big thing tbh.

With the bitching, afaik I don't spend all my time bitching, I am frantically trying to see my flaws though so am listing anything that might have been a factor.

Can you volunteer at much with small children?

Just ask at the volunteer center. You could help out at a pre-school (you would need a CRB check) or you could help out in a youth club or even help young mothers take care of their children.
Try Googling"volunteer" and your county and see what comes up.
