Have been on Trazodone since Oct, for anxiety. Quite high dose which has been stepped up bit by bit.

Still got shit shit anxiety and have come to conclusion that this medication is making it worse, as have definitely got worse since taking it. Am totally sick of feeling like hell, and so is everyone round me

Have appointment with psych on Tues. I am sure medication is going to be changed. In fact I know it needs changing, but am dreading it. Am sick of feeling full of dread and fear all the time, but will have to wait for new one to work.......

How traumatic is it?

The issue of switching ADs came up in thread of mine (from seroxat to prozac) and nickytinseltimes suggested that it would be straight forward.

I'm not sure about the specific drug you are on, but i hope this info can make you feel a little bit positive.

Hope it works out for you.

Citalopram is meant to be quite good for anxiety. I really hope that something mkaes you feel better soon.

But do you still have a period of feeling crap before they kick in?

Doesn't citalopram cause insomnia? I'm suffering with this as well, just to add to the fun

I'm just guessing that the couple of weeks that you would have to spend reducing one before building up to another would not be enough for you to lose all the beneficial effects of the current AD. But the 'half-life' (the time it takes to clear out of your system)of each AD is different.

I have certainly found that each time I come off an AD it is literally a couple of months before my mood slumps.

I'm sorry that this is all anecdotal and guessy. But my hunch is def. that you will not have to fall right down to your non-medicated state during the transfer.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will post.

Citalopram always helped me to sleep well. But people react differently I suppose.

Threadworm, thanks that has made me feel better.

Slump would come in March then and this is definitely winter related. At least there is some light and hope in March

You have cleared up the fact that I was wondering if old one continued to work whilst switching to new one. The one I'm on works well as an AD, just crap against anxiety...

So far today, I have managed to get myself into a state about all of the following
a) A treadmill will fall on me (don't ask) to the point where my jaw clenched up and I was crying
b) I or dd will choke to death on a boiled sweet (none in the house)
c) dd will find a nut on the floor, and choke on that (no nuts in house)
d) Taking my medication which I am convinced actaully contains anxiety to make me worse.

All completely stupid and irrational, but can't help it

You poor thing. I wish I could say something to make these worries go away.
