Hormone induced PND which stopped when gave up BF'ing! similar experiences??

Hi there

I had PND (well more anxiety) with my last baby. The main sympton was that I couldnt sleep and lay awake(when DD was happily sleeping!) with anxiety, which made coping during the day with a new born extremely difficult

I had CBT and held off AD's because I was BF. I found BF hard (starting with getting mastitis) and eventually husband said enough was enough as i was driving myself into the ground with the BF'ing, expressing etc.

The weird thing was when i stopped BF and my periods started again I felt that a cloud had lifted and began to feel and sleep better again.

I am pregnant again and once again the hormones are affecting my sleep (as they do for many pregnant women!). I want to BF but worried that the same thing will happen and it will be worse this time as will also have a toddler to contend with so really need my sleep!

Has anyone has a similar experience? i have heard that once the baby is born I may be able to get a progesterone (?) jab to help with the hormomes but will i be able to carry on BF'ing?? any advice welcome

X

Hi - no experience but bumping this for you for the evening crowd - if Tiktok or Hunker are about they may be able to advise (or you could CAT them).
