Citalopram withdrawal question

Has anyone come off citalopram without reducing the dose?

I stopped taking it about 6 days ago and apart from feeling like death warmed up, there are other things such as feeling exhausted, feeling crabby, eating like a horse, wanting to faint and memory loss. I also feel very anxious.

The dose was 10mg which was upped to 15mg and I took them for almost three months.

I would normally speak to my CPN about this but had a bit of a rough meeting with a new psychiatrist and subsequently feel very wary of saying too much to them.
I hated taking the citalopram as it seemed to increase the anxiety.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Its maybe not the same, but I forgot to get my repeat prescription of it and went almost a week without . So went from 20mg to nothing overnight.

Honestly, physically, apart from the fact I had a dreadful cold at the same time, I felt OK. But mentally, I suddenly realised that I had become the misery I was pre citalopram, and very anxious, grumpy, etc.

I was reading the stuff you get with it, and it does say you should reduce the dose rather than go cold turkey. Could you just try that? Sorry if thats not much help.

Thank you moodlum.
My CPN did say to keep taking them but they made me feel yuk.
I think I will reluctantly take 5mg tomorrow and phone the CPN to see if there is anything else that has less side effects.
Cold turkey is very unpleasant.
