anti depressants while breastfeeding ? (or 5HTP)

hiya

i have a 16 month old ds (my first). i have breastfed on demand from birth still feeding him 5 to 8 times in a 24 hour period (don't want to wean yet either)
i have a history of depression so know my symptoms intimately
just got back from the gp who has told me that he does not recommend any anti depressants whilst breastfeeding

does anyone have any experience of this ?
also i have had 5htp recommended to me ? anyone have any experience of this ?

at the moment i am more overwhelmed but i know the pattern and am moving in 3 weeks...AAHH
