We finally have funding!!!! sorry bit long

Just wanted to share my good news with someone.

my mother has been seriously ill with depression & OCD for over 30 years but the past 2 have been awful. we've had 10 suicide attempts, 1 heart attack, 4 reactions (1 life threatening) to medication and 2 sections. she has also been semi coherant most of this time.

Today my mother finally has the funding to go to the Maudsley Hospital.

this hopefully means we can all stop living on eggshells.

some of you are aware i have antidepressant issues. This is not that i am anti tablets but i am disgusted by the way they are prescribed, often incorrectly.

In the past 2 years my mother has been on citalopram, fluoxetine, duloxetine, clomipramine, amitriptyline, trimipramine, mirtazapine, lorazepam, aripiprazole, olanzapine, stelazine and sertraline i think there were more but we lost track.

Many of these shouldnt have even been prescribed as she was on heart & blood pressure medication. She has had 3 fairly serious side effects and on sertraline she developed hyponatremia which has left her with some damage to her short term memory.

My mother has been clean of all anti depressants & antipsychotics now for 6 weeks and after 2 years i have my mother back .

many of the medications made her symptoms worse.

i myself, my partner and several friends have in the past taken anti depressants and where suitably prescribed they can be a real life saver.

keep strong to all those of you who are struggling at the moment as there is light at the end of the tunnel, just sometimes it can feel like a never ending road you're travelling
