Citalopram and TIREDNESS

Im on citalopram (20mg) for pnd. Have been on it for 5 weeks now and although my mood has lifted and im not as down I am so so so very tired.

I was on it following dd's birth around 2 years ago and came off it after a few months as I was expecting ds. Thing is I don't recall feeling like I do now. I remember (also in my diary) that I was tired for the 1st week of starting them but it went..along with yawning and sickness.

Thing is im still yawning lots, sickness has gone but I could sleep for england. I have a 2.3yr old and 6 month old so I put it down to that BUT my hv says I should feel like I have bags more energy and to see my gp.

Anyone got any advice..? Could these tablets be the wrong one even though they were fine a few years ago..?

TIA X

btw I TAKE THEM AT NIGHT....Thought it best as hated the sickness durihng the day. TBH I don't think taking them during the day will improve things as even having them at night..I still feel "zonked" during the day.

Hi there - I've just started taking them again after a gap, and could barely keep my eyelids open but it has passed in the first week as it did last time.

If it's something that doesn't resolve with a cup of coffee, if you really don't think it's the extra workload, it might be worth seeing what teh GP thinks, and whether you need a blood test. Are you taking anything else? Just wondering if it's a bit much for your system, did you go straight into 20mg? Maybe worth seeing if 10mg would suit you bteter?

Sorry, probably more questions than answers :-)

PS HV is talking cobblers imvho, find me a mother of 2 with PND who has bags of energy, .. and I'd say she'd recovered! Even on Anti'ds it's expecting a lot of yourself.

Hello i am on citalopram, have been for 4 months due to pnd and panic attacks. i started to take them in the morning and they made me feel awful so tired throughout the day. i changed to taking them at night and they make such a difference i feel alot better. where i would have normally felt crap during the day, with taking them before going to bed you sleep through the crap stage and wake up feeling better.

I've been on them for just over a month and I'm really tired (though have been very busy and not too well either) Thanks for the tip, I might take it at night and see if it makes a difference.

I have been taking this for almost a year now at 20 mg. and find myself so tired all the time. I guess this is the meds since I have had other testing to see if I was anemic, etc. I also yawn a lot and my stomach sweats profusely when I exercise. If I take my pill in the p.m. then I get insomnia if I awaken to go to the bathroom. How to handle this drug is hard!

i was on citropram for 6months and came off when finding myself pregnant.i cant remember feeling tired, so im thinking maybe its just not the right pill for you.i had prev been on 3 other meds for depression, one had no effect, one made me worse and the other stopped me sleeping.its only with citropram i felt normal.
have you tried a councelor?for me this was better than any drug as helped resolve issues and gave me coping strategies, there are ones where they visit u at home so u dont have to worry about childcare.
