Hi there

My other half has bipolar disorder, fairly well controlled by lithium, but the specialist has recently suggested he tries Lamotrigine / Lamictal to lift his mood. It was originally used for epilepsy apparently. The only side effect we've heard of so far is possible hair loss. We'd be interested if anyone has any experiences or opinions to share.

Thanks

hi i have epliepsy and tried it out for a while apparently a good drug to be on if you want kids, i found it to be really good, no side effects at all. but i did have to come off it in the end because it wasn't controlling my fits but other than that it was a good on to be on, no drowness which i find all my other anticonvulsants give me

Hi - starting suffering seizures when went into labour. Having continued to suffer, was prescribed Lamotrigine in January 2007. Taking 200mg a day. Have suffered a few since starting medication, so not totally controlling it - although was suffering some pretty major tonic clonic seizures (always whilst sleeping). Initially suffered some hair loss. Have gained a bit of weight and suffer from tiredness and hot flushes!! Not totally convince by it. [humm]
