Been on Seroxat for 6 months. Luckily, it has worked for me and feel almost normal. However, i have heard it's difficult to come off. I Have a v understanding GP who will dispense the liquid form when the time comes!
Anyway, to the point! Need to start thinking about trying for 2nd baby, as am 36 now and took 2 yrs of ttc before got lucky with DD. Anyone know if o.k to be on Seroxat while pg, or will i have to wait before off them (which may take up to 1yr apparently!)
TIA xxxx

i was on seroxat after ds1 and it also worked for me. i had only been taking them for 3 months when i had my coil removed to ttc. my gp told me they werent safe in pregnancy as they could cause congenital defects so i came off them. it was easy for me to come off, i was on the 20mg ones and just took half every day for a week or so, then half every other day then stopped. the only slight side effects i got were the ones i got when i started which was mild dizziness and headaches.

i have heard that prozac is ok in pregnancy but obviously that is something you would need to discuss with your GP.

Thanks vnmum. What dose were you on at the most?

I took Seroxat (20mg/day) throughout my pregnancy - my GP said that there was no evidence that it caused birth defects but that the longterm effects aren't yet known because it hasn't been around for all that long. The consultant to whom I was assigned said that it's often prescribed for anxiety in pregnancy and for PND and that in his opinion it was safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Of course, I have moments of anxiety about it, and if anything goes wrong for DS I will probably feel that the Seroxat was to blame, but there's always something to feel guilty about, isn't there?

i was on 20mg per day. i know that there is always the chance that i may need ADs again after this DC is born as im now at risk of PND but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it
