PND returning to work

Ladies

Please can someone tell me if this is normal??

I suffered with mild PND when my lb was younger. I went into Fluxotine and gradually got better and weaned off it.

I have returned to work about a month ago. I found it very very hard. Work doesn't bother me I have a very good job with a decent salary and good boss and team. I just didn't want to my lb.

Since I have returned to work I have started to feel worse. I can't get up in the morning. I want to stay at home. I want to go back to my maternity leave.

My lb got poorly during the week. It was the perfect excuse for me to not go into work. We stayed at home. I loved it and we did normal things that we did while I was on maternity.

To cut a very long story short I haven't gone into work for a third day in a row. I have lied to my boss my colleagues and even my partner because I just can't face it. I know this is not right.

I am also in a terrible rut. I used to be very fit and active and used to eat relatively healthy. Now I've put on weight and will eat and eat and eat. And al I want to do is sleep. Everything else just seems pointless and all I want to do is stay in this cocoon with my lo who is now 13 months old.

I went back on fluoxetine about a week or so ago. I worry excessively about my child.

My question is can you suffer from PND this long after birth? I do not want to go back to work and I don't know how to get out of this.

Any help appreciated xx

Hi, glad to hear you are getting help again (I'm assuming the GP restarted the flouoxitine) have no experience of PND, but it is possible to suffer with depression at any time. Even if you enjoy your job returning to work will have added extra stresses and pressures which could have contributed to you feeling this way. Is there any posibility of reducing your hours or being a SAHM? Maybe part of it is that going back to work just isn't what you want right now.

Have they tested your thyroid?

I had mild PND and yes I did find going g back to work hard. Go back on the Meds if it helped before. You can always come off them again.

Thyroid probs can cause weight gain and tiredness and are fairly common after pregnancy.
