Just realised that I have never allowed myself to seriously focus on anything. My eldest is the same. This is how I realised it's a strong trait of mine. I am suddenly aware I don't ever let myself focus. If my mind starts to focus I will deliberately think about other things.
I seem to consider having only one thought in my mind exceptionally weak and can't let this happen.
My eldest is doing it too. I'd like a more simplified thought process.

I would be terrified if I thought the pilot was thinking about a cross word clue whilst landing in a strong cross wind...

Or how about your doctor thinking about your diagnosis for symptoms that could be breast cancer and the weekly shopping list...

I rather think that being able to focus ones mind on a single task and doing it very very well is to be admired.
