Jesus - what a nob (or nobess) what hope is there for ordinary people understanding depression when you get a GP talking such crap. Mind I have been told to "pull myself together" and "cheer up" as an IP on a psych ward.

Small wonder the stigma surrounding mental illness is alive and well!

When I told my former GP that I'd been having suicidal thoughts, she said it was just stress and since I'd been feeling depressed off and on for years, I should just keep dealing with it. I have rarely cried as hard as I did on my way home from that appointment.

So sorry, Marbles, that your GP was so useless. Keep looking for a good one. Flowers
