Worried about the doctors today

I think I may be bipolar but am worried to call the doctor.

I have very high highs and very low lows (OH barely sees any of it because he's rarely home) main reason I am going is for DC. My highs must be fun (although don't provide stability I know 100%) and my lows can last for hours, or days (which again is not fair on DC). DC is 3.

I haven't got an app today but would I be wrong to call for an emergency app today?

I just want to get help as I can go from really happy to very sad/upset within a minute. And that in itself is upsetting.

Any advice is welcomed.

I would say to get into the GP as soon as possible while you feel able and wanting to. I need to make an appointment and had they been open at the weekend would have done but now panic has set in and I am too scared to call. Actually want to thank you for this post as it has in some way put a foot up my backside and reminded me why and that I should xx

How long are the highs? I'm asking because what they call bipolar involves highs and lows for weeks or months. You'd probably get a different diagnosis.

But the only way to find out and access help is to go to the GP. It won't all happen at one appointment, if that helps make it a little less overwhelming? You'd be referred on for another appointment with mental health services, usually before any diagnosis is given.

They've given me Mirtazapine (sp?) to help with sleep too. My 1st one was last night and within the hour I couldn't keep my eyes physically open!

And the highs can last days as can the lows.

The Dr said that I need to come back in 3 weeks time for a check up to see how I'm getting on. And if they want to refer me to other services.
