Hello all. I am looking for help to overcome doe absolutely awful feelings of anxiety I am having regarding an upcoming family holiday.
Me, my husband and 2 DCs are supposed to be flying g long haul in a couple of days on what looks to be a lovely, fun holiday (also very expensive but that feels like the least relevant detail to me at present).
I have a history of profound depression with an anxiety disorder. I am not a good flyer at any time but at the moment it feels nearly impossible that I will be getting on that plane in a few days time.
I have a tight chest, racing heart, feel sick, sound of blood pounding in head and very bad thoughts about the worst possible scenarios happening.
Please can anyone tell me how to avoid a full blown panic attack right now lying next to my husband, feeling pathetic and lonely? And how am I going to get on that plane?
I also have physical disabilities and am currently in a lot of pain and am stressed to death about how I am going to cope with a long haul flight in this much discomfort.
Help me, please

My friend has a flying anxiety and her GP gives her Lorazepam to take purely for flying. I don't know what other drugs you might be on but if you can get to see your GP quickly they may well be able to let you have a few of these which work well. GP can determine the dose. Apparently she (friend) just floats through the whole experience of the flight!

(She endures flying because she won't let it stop her going to the places they want to go. It's a necessary evil.)

I would second getting some form of beta blockers at this point, I think it's too late for any kind of anxiety therapy etc as the flight is so soon. Sleeping tablets can be good also, take one as you board.
