Anyone on Valdoxan (Agomelatine)

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone else is on this anti depressant to compare experiences with me?

I have been on it for 4 weeks but not seeing much improvement, should I be feeling better by now? It seems to help a bit with sleep and was helping with anxiety but the anxiety has increased again during the last week. I have some daytime sleepiness, worst in week 2, but no other side effects (this is a bit of a miracle for me!). I still feel pretty low and anxiety has been crippling again for the last week - apart from a couple of hours between taking it and falling asleep.

I really want it to work! I am very limited in what anti depressants I can take - no SSRIs or SNRIs or anything that acts on serotonin. In fact my psychiatrist said there is only one other option and he is not keen for me to try that as it can increase appetite and I'm overweight already. I've read that the Valdoxan dose can be doubled but that seems a lot and I'm worried about how tired that would make me.

Will be grateful for any insights.

I take agomelatine. It's worked very well for me. I'm bipolar so take two other meds, too. I'm prone to every side effect possible, but I've had no problems at all with it. It's not funded by the NHS where I am but I was able to get special funding from the trust. Been taking it since 2013.

Thanks dontrun. Glad you're doing well on it. Can you remember how long it took to have an effect?

I'm not in the uk so luckily funding isn't an issue, but I pay and claim back from insurance... It's certainly not cheap!
