I successfully took Escitalopram for 5 years for anxiety/depression. My new GP told me to come off of it as it didn't agree long term with another drug. He put me on Sertraline 8 weeks ago and I went up to 100mg of Sertraline. Unfortunately, I feel more anxious, have intrusive thoughts, worry etc and have asked to go back to Escitalopram asap. My GP has suggested taking Sertraline for 7 days at 50mg and then next day restarting Escitalopram at 20mg. Does this sound about right? has anyone done this please?

There are various ways of crossing from one med to another. I went from sertraline to Venlafaxine in a similar way to the one you describe. I don't think it is that unusual or anything to be concerned about. Sertraline and Escitalopram are fairly common ADs prescribed by GPs as well.
