Racing thoughts

Does anyone suffer from racing thoughts? If so how do you manage them.

I find it hard to explain but it is like sertain sounds or lines from songs will get stuck in my mind and go around on a loop. I can words or sentences from past conversations going through my head as well. Random thoughts or memories go through my mind, jumping from one thing to the next, sometimes related sometimes not.

I find it quite exhausting and it makes me quite tense. I don't know what is causing it but it is often linked to when my mood takes a turn for the worse.

Hi

Yes I do/did. It was anxiety related I think it's almost a coping mechanism. I'm on sertraline now which is helping loads and I read the leaflet again the other day, it says it's prescribed for OCD often so I recognised these thoughts are quite obsessive and compulsive. Take care

I used to get this a lot, especially when I was driving for some reason. It stopped once I started using meditation as a tool for my anxiety. I'm not religious at all so meditation for me is simply a way to give my brain a rest and slow it down.

I'd second that it sounds like anxiety. I had this too and am also on sertraline, which really helps.
