Depression or pmt?

Hi all

Someone has kindly directed me to this forum.

I am feeling very down tonight. Can't stop crying and feel so down. I have had depression in the past. I also get terrible pmt. I think things are going too far though and my happy front is going to come to a messy end.

I was last on anti depressants about three years ago. I am worried they will space me out too much as I need a clear head at the moment as am trying to get a job.

I can't carry on like this though. I am swaying between crying and feeling angry. I cried this morning because I split some milk on the floor. Proper sobbed and my kids came and hugged me. That's not right is it?

Flowers Have a hug from me, Tinga. Are you feeling any better this morning?

I have experience of this too. Do you find that your crying/anger moods correspond with your cycle? How do you feel once you come on or at other times of the month?

I personally find that my bouts of the same thing you describe are linked to my cycle. I was at the end of my tether with it at the beginning of the year and wasn't sure either if I had depression or if was PMT. I decided to do some research about helping PMT, bought a book called "No More PMS!" by Maryon Stewart which provides nutritional advice on how to combat symptoms. It provides information about foods and supplements you can take and helps you work our your own programme to suit your needs. It also comes with lots of recipes.

I followed this book and have to say that although I am not 100% cured (but then again I haven't followed it religiously...) it has helped me enormously and my symptoms have got better.

Otherwise, have you been to the GP and asked for a blood test. Sometimes thyroid imbalances can also effect moods etc.
