Iv suffered with depression since my teens, the doctor said it was just due to the hormone changes in my body. But it never went away, now 25 I've been on prozac for two years apart from now as I cant take them due to being pregnant. I think I'm coping ok, apart from the sudden anger tantrums I have, my mood switches very quickly, been panicky from time to time, although I have learnt how to deal with this and make sure my daughter never ever ever sees me when I'm having a moment.

Doctor wants me assessed for bipolar due to sudden switches in my mood, got a psychiatrist appointment next week whi deal with pregnant women. I'm not sure what to expect from it .

Although my mum tells me it's nothing but depression and its nothing. My sister told me I'm clearly not mentally ill and to stop being so pathetic and laughed about my appointment, these people dont see me every day though but it gets to me. Makes me feel low and stupid. It takes alot for me to talk to anyone and clearly I shouldn't of spoken to them about it.

Anyone been through the same? What do they do at these appointments?

Oh dear .. sorry to hear how you are feeling.

Not sure I can help much but I did have a psychiatric review recently. Actually it was really helpful .. I was honest and she gave me lots of information and encouragement (I currently have depression).

Sorry to hear that your family are not being supportive (my Mum and Sister are exactly the same). Many women struggle with mood swings, etc due to hormones (I am menopausal and used to have terrible rages but they have died down now) but it doesn't mean we are mentally ill, just struggling with life in general.

Good luck!
