Feeling dreadful. How the hell do I make myself feel better?

I been on sick leave with stress for a few months now. i absolutely hated the job anyway and didn't intend to return which i think they knew. i could appeal but want nothing to do with them nor ever return. just makes my depression and anxiety go into overload.... and it shouldn't - i should be happy :(

Ah right, well it's probably for the best then. Even if you hated it, is not nice to be sacked, sounds like you need a new start though.

Are you saying your gp regularly?

Yep seeing GP. Just the shock of it has hit me massively :(

Yes, well it would, especially if you're not in a good place anyway.

Try and see it as a fresh start, maybe look for something else if you're up to it?

Ps....I live just outside Norwich!! :)

Can they do that when you are on sick leave? I am expecting this to happen to me soon I have been over loaded with work recently and am now exhausted and burnt out with work related stress I have cried 3 times at work in the last 6 weeks - and my boss has told me to "take time out" - so I am off from today for a week (using my annual leave - dont want to say I am clinically depressed and that I have had to double my ADs). I expect to return and be given my notice before mid June when I will have been there a year.

Norwich is great :)
Thankfully I don't really need to work for now so not going to look for anything. The time will come though....

deepest - its shitty isn't it. why not try to speak to them about changing hours/role etc. etc. - if you email whilst off they can start looking into it?

unless like me you hate it and want out anyway

still better resign than get the sack

fuckers!

To answer how do you make yourself feel better....

If you really want nothing more to do with them, just walk away. Think carefully over it and chat to friends first though. If you think you have the moral support to get through a claim against them, perhaps consider it.

That aside, get out and start doing things you enjoy. Plan a holiday. Book a massage. Spoil yourself. I had been working for 15 yrs without a break when that happened to me. Indulge yourself and do not feel guilty about it.

Yep all good ideas to do.... though will need to definately watch the pennies now. Ah well, I'd rather be poor and not have to go to a job I hate :)
