HOw do you live with regret?

Life is too short for regrets so they say but sometimes we can't help it.

I have only one huge regret in my life ( abusive ex) but many of my problems spring from that.

Regrets are very painful, especially when they are very stupid mistakes with massive consequences so how do we deal with that?

You cannot change the past, but you can change the future. Regret is meaningless without change.

I suppose the regret should really belong to the abusive ex. He's your ex so you're no longer with him, and don't have the abuse any more, which is a good thing.

We all make mistakes and have regrets, and if you had done things differently, you might just have different regrets. No one sails through life getting it right all the way. You can try to do your best now, but you would be very unusual if you hadn't ever cocked up.

It can help to acknowledge and accept the regret, which is part of what you're doing really.

I saw that on Pinterest earlier, you have to leave the bad stuff behind. Onwards and upwards!
