Are my physical symptoms caused by PND

I have not felt right for about a month, symptoms are -

feel tense
stomach ache constantly
indigestion after every meal
hungry
feel sick
diorrhea (sp.) sorry if tmi!
very tired (sleep deprived)
worrying about everything
generally feeling very run down

scored 18 on the PND with the health visitor yesterday. I turn everything into a joke and always look on the bright side of things so nobody (including myself) would realise that it was PND. I thought I had physical illness until yesterday - anyone had similar. How can I sort myself out.

God yes, totally could be. Have you tried going swimming? As this bizarrely has improved my bowel function, the diarrhoea has cleared right up, almost!

Maybe the overtiredness/anxiety has had had a knock-on effect leading to stomach ache, diahorrea, nausea, indigestion, etc. These symptoms are all pretty connected to anxiety, IME. (I had PND and recognise what you describe.)
What does your HV recommend? Maybe counselling? Cognitive Behavioural Therapy might be useful, to get you to recognise your anxiety triggers and to head off the panicky feelings. CBT is quite widely available now through GPs.
Or you may find (as I did) that just being diagnosed takes the edge off the awfulness.
Good luck, keep us posted.

Yes, yes and again yes! I agree with colditz re the swimming too. I have IBS and stress always makes it flare up. Add PND into the equation and things were not so good last year.

Sleep deprivation also makes me feel really weird physically. I didn't recognise it at the time, as I hadn't had normal sleep in so long when DD was tiny, but now if she has a bad night I can spot the indefinable weirdness (

Having suffered with anxiety I can definatly vouch for the diorreah and tenseness.

I must must eat as soon as I get up and a proper b'fast too. Before I'd either not bother or have something silly like chocolate.
If you can get lots of rest as IME sleep deprivation and feeling tired can make it worse.

Didn't know about the swimming though. Will try that out.

My PND manifested itself in a very physical way so much so that i genuinely thought i had a serious illness and it has taken over 6 months to realise that it's all been caused by anxiety and depression. Both can cause such extreme symptoms and in the end it's a bit of a viscious circle the iller you feel the more down you are and the more down you are the iller you get. Thanks to my GP and HV i've started AD's and I also go swimming and do yoga. I don't like to talk to people about it but i've found that having the Dr, HV and my husband to talk has really helped. Go see your GP, don't let yourself feel ill for as long as I did. i constantly kick myself for not getting help sooner.

Thanks. Its just so out of character. I'm such a happy and confident person usually. I just seen to be getting so wound up about peoples comments on my parenting. Last night in a phonecall Mil was telling Dp how I was spoiling DD by having her in my bed and that I should let her cry herself to sleep. I just kept going over and over this in my head and got so and tearful and felt so tight inside. I don't want to leave a 3 month old to cry it out. Wish that I could just ignore their comments.
