Background in brief - history of abuse and lengthy depression, self harm, lots of therapy in teens inc psych ward stay. Now suffering from CFS (also known as ME) and having CBT as part of the treatment.

So, we were talking about low self esteem, negative inner voice etc, and she suggested doing this to gradually build up evidence against these thoughts. I've done similar briefly in the past but having done a lot of psychological 'inner work' this year I feel ready to make it stick and I thought doing a thread on it would make me more likely to bother!

I'm off to watch telly with DH in a mo (Big Bang Theory 6 arrived yesterday :o) so won't be back til tomorrow but if anyone wants to do this with me then jump in! Could be stuff you've achieved, nice things that have happened etc.

Mine are:

  • Had my consultation over the phone for the first time - was worried it'd feel weird but I stuck with it and found it really helpful.

  • Contacted a friend to arrange a meet up while he's visiting home (I hardly ever initiate anything like that)

  • Wrote in my treatment journal the same day as my session, instead of leaving it for weeks!

:)

Went for a lovely picnic with DC which didn't end in us going home early.

Found a toy I'd been looking for for ages.

Got a lovely text from a friend.

A package I'd been waiting for for ages finally turned up today and dd loves it (was a new toy for her)

Didn't cry today.

DD was in a very cuddly mood today which was lovely.

DH had a job interview that went well.

He got home early so we had lunch together with no DC's and it was great :-)

Arranged to have coffee tomorrow with a good friend I haven't seen all summer for no good reason.

My bathroom and car look shiny because I cleaned them.
The sun felt warm on my face .
I avoided the urge to eat compulsively when explaining to my mum's hairdresser that I can'tsee her anymore because I can't bear to see her and not my mum . We've had a permanent falling out . Realised my mum is a narcissist . Thank you for thread.

What a fab thread - I am rubbish at following through with the stuff they used to give me to do after counselling.

  1. Phoned back my best friend and had a brilliant chat n she really cheered me up and she says I cheered her up too when I would normally make an excuse to end the call and not call back.
  2. Really spent some proper quality time with DS2 while DS1 was at school.
  3. Headed off for an evening of Big Bang Theory thanks to you!!!! :D

  1. Did some housework that needed doing.
  2. Managed to say no to something too stressful on me which would call me stress.
  3. Spent time in the sun with a walk, which is good for me!

Hats off fuzz for starting your journal and for this cheerful thread.
I started my Christmas shopping as maternity pay ends next month, it feels good to be organised.
I enjoyed a long walk with Eco baby through balmy country lanes and didn't meltdown when buggy got a puncture.
I started a piece of work I'd been putting off.
I'll be back tomorrow!

ecofreckle · 06/09/2013 20:14

Fuzz what are your three things today? Mine are that I survived another day of baby induced sleep deprivation and am a day closes to sleeping through, that I didn't let the rain stop us having a walk and that the doctor took action on an issue we're having with Dd. And, it's Friday!

What a fab idea, thank you OP and thank you everyone else for sharing :)

Mine:

  1. I adore my baby, she is a complete live wire, but she seems to cheer up everyone she meets, me included!
  2. I had a lovely surprise through the post
  3. I've got a few things planned next week, to give it a bit of structure

Who's next? :)

  • Managed a trip to Tesco - not that exciting but part of my goals from occupational therapy is to try and do something vaguely active on days off.

  • finally got myself a new coat to replace my threadbare old thing.

  • rediscovered chronic pain support thread and am reading it through to catch up with everyone :)

What's your coat like fuzz?
Today I started clearing out the garage. A long overdue job started!
I had a successful trip to car boot to get dd some new toys and a door bouncer.
I found a letter from my mum and didn't cry. She died nearly two years ago and she was my absolute role model for a good mother and general good person.
It's nice to focus on the positive fuzz, let's keep going!

- Just booked a hotel for a family trip to Christmas market.
- Um, scratching around for a third. I put quite a lot of washing on this afternoon. Will that do?

-It's a gorgeous, golden September day.

-I have cold wine in the fridge.
