Taking antidepressants and breastfeeding

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone is taking antidepressents whilst breastfeeding?
My doctor has prescribed citalopram and advised me to stop breastfeeding, however this isn't going to happen over night and I don't know whether I'm ready to stop feeding.
I've done some research and seen that sertraline seems to be the drug of choice.
I can't be the only breastfeeding mum out there who's been prescribed antidepressents?

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.

I'm on citalopram and breastfeeding, was actually changed from sertraline when I was pg with ds. You're certainly not alone, and although I can't do much to reassure you medically, I can tell you I know many people who continue to use ad's whilst breastfeeding. DS is 17 months fwiw, and I have never been told to stop ad's whilst feeding. I also took ad's while bf DD2 for 2.5 years!

I took sertraline without problems from one day after dd's birth. And I breastfed for 2 years. Don't give up if you want to breastfeed. Good luck x

I was also advised to continue with sertraline when pregnant with dc2. I did loads of research and couldn't find any contraindications.
