I'm going to my best friend's wedding soon and would really like just one drink to toast her - it's certainly not the be all and end all but I wondered if anyone else on sertraline ever has an occasional glass? The instructions say not to as it can greater the side effects but I'm fortunately side effect free so I'm not sure it'll make any difference?

serteraline is an SSRI if i remember rightly and by rights you shouldn't drink with them but fuck that, you can have one drink! The problem with alchohol is that it can make depression/anxiety worse so it is counter productive but really think an occasional glass will be fine. I was on citalopram before and used to drink with them - probably too much but it was ok. Am now bac on citalopram and reacting badly to it, but i have just had a beer because i WANTED it.

Thanks Smile I suspected I was perhaps being a little over cautious. I might have to have a test run as I've not so much had a sniff of booze for so long - could be interesting!

enjoy! although really don't make a habit of it, it will mean the beneficial effects of the serteraline will be lost. One drink once in a while wont hurt though x

I have been on sertraline on and off for years and drink a normal amount. I think the risk is it will make you zzzzzzzzzzzx or worsen depression, but yhis never happened to me.
