So this morning I look on the NHS website and manage to tick every symptom of PND. I managed to get a phone call from the GP this afternoon, who said I should've called the health visitor as I should have been referred to the GP through them? But he did make me an appointment next Tuesday morning. Can't get through to the health visitor never can so they can get me to do the mood questionnaire.

Don't really know why I'm starting this thread, just feel rubbish and like in going to have to fight to get help, which I don't want to have to do. So I might just need a bit of hand holding?

Bit of background, I've had depression as a teenager (very mild anti-d's for 6 months), I had DD 20 weeks ago and she's doing well (hearing issues but nothing we are really concerned about), DH is currently off work with work-related stress so can't really support fully.

I think maybe I started this thread so I couldn't ignore it anymore. Because I'm just hiding spending all my time on MN but not actually engaging with serious things, and it means I'm also not engaging in RL.

Hand holding.

Dont know much about this,
Am I right in reading that you have a Tuesday appointment but you have to fill out the mood questionaire before you go?

I think they use Edinburgh Postnatal Depression test. You can find it online and print the result for your gp, if you have spare time :)

Thanks amillion. I don't know either! He just seemed absolutely stumped when I said I hadn't been assessed by the health visitor. It just felt like I had done the wrong thing by calling the GP, but I'm hoping that's just the headspace I'm in now and that he'll be a bit more helpful next week.

I did manage to speak to my health visitor a little while ago. She asked when my GP appointment was and made an appointment for Wednesday - I think they might be following different procedures...

I do get annoyed when health professionals are not very sympathetic when patients are in obvious need.
Hope they sort themselves out between them at your surgery, and you get any help you need.

Thanks millionyears :). I was forced to change it and in someways it describes the reality.

Hope your apointment goes well. If the gp doesnt help (they should!) really persevere with getting hold of health visitor. Also worth visiting apni.org/ for more advice.
